Supergrass is our artist of the week, here at the varsity radio club. They’re an older band, who got started in the ’90s and were inspired by the decidedly punk-pop sound of bands like The Buzzcocks, and traditional Brit-pop vibes of bands like The Kinks. Their music relies heavily on strong piano parts akin to those of Elton John, who is also seeing a comeback in the mainstream eye recently. They’re definitely a product of their time, but in their own exuberant, playful way; which is certainly the best of ways.

Our featured artist this week is Radkey! This band is a group of brothers from humble beginnings who put on a fantastic live show. Their music is a rough-around-the-edges kind of grungey, punkey, rock mix, similar to bands like Nirvana or Silverstein. The group’s lyrics cover topics from growing up, to what it’s like being homeschooled, and just about everything else; which I think is pretty darn cool. Seeing as they’re fairly young, they don’t have too much in the way of released albums, but I can’t wait to see what they do with their head start.
