New DJs this week! It’s the last day of break, so here are some brand-spanking-new songs for you all go forth with! I’m pretty excited about this week because I got a recommendation from one of the aforementioned super cool new DJs (it's the throwback track btw). Featured Artist

The featured artist of this edition is Hippo Campus. This band has a very interesting, usually fairly upbeat sound that is greatly influenced by the members’ background in jazz. While their music isn’t exactly what you’d call “jazzy,” it has distinctive drum rhythms and bass lines. Their newest album Bambi, from 2018 signaled a significant step forward in their style as more synth was introduced. Overall Hippo Campus is what I’d call great driving music. That description makes sense to me at least. If you want to know more about them, you’re fresh out of luck since their Spotify bio only contains the deer emoji (ironic).

Pearl Jam! Has! A! New! Single! And if you can't already tell, I’m a little bit excited. Pearl Jam is what my mind goes to as soon as anybody mentions the grunge scene (sorry Nirvana). The band’s lead singer and lyricist Eddie Vedder is famous for also being part of Temple Of The Dog, and Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament from Mother Love Bone became their guitarist and bassist respectively. With beginnings like those, nothing could go wrong. Their rough (but not too rough) style set them apart from most rock bands of the 90s and helped them become one of the most influential bands of their time. If you haven’t really dug into their new single, do it. That’s all I have to say.
